Sudden test interruptions during salt spray testing are typically categorized into two main scenarios, as outlined in section 3.12 of GJB150.11A-2009:
1. Test Interruption Due to Lower-than-Expected Conditions: If the test is interrupted and the environmental conditions fall below the specified values, exceeding the acceptable tolerance, a full visual inspection of the test sample must be conducted. A technical evaluation should also be performed to assess the impact of the interruption on the overall results. Once the conditions are stabilized, the test can be resumed from the point where it was interrupted.
2. Test Interruption Due to Higher-than-Expected Conditions: In cases where the test conditions exceed the required levels and go beyond the tolerance, the environment should be adjusted back within the acceptable range. The test conditions should remain stable until a thorough visual inspection and technical evaluation can be completed. If the assessment concludes that the interruption did not significantly affect the final results, or if the impact is negligible, the test can be restarted from the point where the tolerance was exceeded. However, if the interruption is deemed to have a negative impact, the test must be restarted with a new test sample.
