Packing seeds like packaging gold

(Bagging seeds like gold) If a packaging system has a weighing and bagging accuracy of 1 gram, it's just fine. Heinz Seed, a subsidiary of the US-based Heinz company, sold its patented product, a special kind of tomato seed, to farmers. As early as 1991, it could reach 70,000 bags. Depending on the size of the seed, the size of the bag will accurately contain 150,000 seeds, with each bag weighing within a tolerance of 1 pound; depending on the variety, the price is between $300 and $1500. Heinz used to hand bag seeds and then sew. However, the growing sales volume makes this approach impractical. Therefore, last year the company installed a Weighpack/Paxiom weighing/loading/packing system. This was after they saw a large number of machines. Choice, it is very flexible and easy to operate, but also very precise, the bag produced by it is very nice, and it is not expensive compared to other machines. In addition, the footprint of this machine is very small, so no more space is required. Heinz began his agricultural research work in 1915 and was the first company to start actively investing in tomato planting experiments. It is now one of the leaders in this highly technical field. Contents include artificial pollination, testing of hybrids, etc. They have tried and tested all over the world, and now there are 73 different hybrid varieties being sold. Bagging is the most important part of the key bagging section and consists of an AEF-1 weighing device mounted on the top and Zippy on the output bagging. The accuracy of the system can be plus or minus 1 gram (approximately 300 seeds), and 40 bags per minute. The bagging section is the main component of this intermittent movement operation. Each time the bag is opened at the feed port, a scale signal is sent to the feed point. HeinzSeed puts 150,000 seeds weighing approximately 1 pound into each pocket. Because the seed of the hybrid variety differs slightly in size and weight, the size of the packaging bag also changes. HeinzSeed currently uses four different sizes of bags, ranging in size from 6.5 inches wide, 9 inches high to 7.5 inches, and 10.5 inches wide. One of the reasons we chose the Weighpack system was the flexibility of the bag from one size to another. All we needed to do was press the button on the operation panel. The seed is transferred to the weighing hopper via a vacuum transfer device. There is a horizontal switch on the hopper. The switch transport system maintains a constant in the hopper so that the measuring head is not overloaded or depleted. The weigher has a three-head scale control to meet the design speed needs. Each head consists of two vibratory plates, a wider main plate and a narrower drive plate. At the beginning of a run cycle, both plates vibrate to transport the product into the weighing drum. When about 95% of the product to be weighed is placed in the weigh tank, the main plate stops vibrating and the flap is closed to ensure that no more product is transferred from the main tray. The drive plate switches to a smaller amplitude and vibrates continuously until the product in the weighing drum reaches the correct weight, at which time the drive plate stops vibrating and the flap on the plate closes. When the other two buckets are filled, one bucket is unloaded for each filling cycle. The flap helps to open the bag and the gusset. Upright polyvinyl ester bags are provided at the gate, and the operator places these bags on the two pins under the fill tube. Even if the machine is running, such operations can be performed. To start each fill cycle, the insert descends, opens the bag, and after adding the bottom liner, a downward air nozzle opens the top bag. This piston opener is a unique feature of this machine. When the seeds enter the package, they are too light to push the open package, so Weighpack developed this piston opener to open the package before the seeds are filled. The movement of the piston signals the weighing machine to discharge the product from the weighing drum into the bag. Because the product flows around the piston and enters the bag when the piston is raised, Weighpack must do some work on the design and speed of the piston to ensure that the piston does not pull the seeds out. In fact, this is not the main problem, because the seeds are too small and they flow like water; but they still make some minor changes to the piston so that it will not take away any product. After the bag has been filled, a mechanical device with two fingers pulls it away from the pin and moves the side to the left to transfer the bag to the heat seal. Two parallel conveyor belts transport the bags to seal the top with heat seals. When the bag leaves the heating section, it cuts the plastic material at the top of the seal through a rotating knife and throws it into the bin. The bagging section can be equipped with a raised or inkjet coder, but Heinz Seed has not chosen this part. The pouches are transported from the active bagging section into the container and then manually packaged for sale. Computer control makes the communication with the user very friendly The weighing/packing device is controlled by a unique system that can load 100 recipes, although Heinz currently only uses 4 recipes (each one corresponds to a bag size). For each recipe, the operator enters all the necessary data and assigns it a recipe number. To run these recipes, the operator simply enters the recipe number on the operator panel. Each recipe contains all the information needed to control weighing and packaging. For each package size, it is necessary to include the operating speed, fill weight, vibration time, and amplitude of the main disk and drive plate, the number of dumps, and more. The system also controls the timing of the machine. For example, the machine will not open the tilt bucket of the scale bucket until it receives a signal that the piston bag opener has entered the package. The baffle at the end of the fill channel will not open until the tilt stop of the scale bucket is closed, and disk vibration will not be initiated until the open end of the pan is opened. The automatic return system senses the weight of the empty weighing drum and automatically zeroes the scale so that the correct weight can be maintained. The operator sets the zero frequency on the control panel: 500 times per 1000 weighings, or any time he feels right. This is not a critical factor because the seeds are too clean and free to flow, but there may be dust deposits in the bucket and this eliminates any possibility of weighing errors. If the weighing device weighs all the products, it will automatically shut down. To compensate for short-lived deficiencies, the operator can set how long to run after the fill funnel is empty. As an automatic safety protection function, the balance will be dumped after weighing the correct product. The history screen allows the operator to follow the operation. Among other data, these give the average weight of each head: the number of bags to run and the total weight of the product distribution over a specified period of time. Another monitor allows the operator to observe the weight of each dumped product. The Multi-Trix unit contains maintenance and self-test monitors that help operators determine the cause of the problem. The key element for weighing/bagging is the quick separation of the baffles and other ingredients that can be easily removed and replaced. If the diagnostic monitor indicates an imperfect component, Weighpack can send a replacement bezel over one night, and Heinz can easily insert it. This application is not as easy as it used to be. It initially presented a powerful challenge like Weighpack/Paxiom, but they insisted on it and now it works very well. The multi-layer bag is a multi-layer bag provided by C&H Packaging, and the outer layer is made of a flex-printed 48 g PET material with a white opaque layer on the inner layer. It's harder than it seems to be to develop such bags, and customers need very precise tolerance. The sides and the bottom of the lining all face challenges. This was designed with the joint efforts of both technical staff.
