According to the OIA Association, on January 16, Gore, the global leader in waterproof and breathable fabric technology, will unveil its latest innovation at the 2015 Winter Salt Lake City Outdoor Exhibition (OR Winter). The highlight of the event is the debut of three GORE-TEX® thermo-moldable fabric ski boots, developed in collaboration with renowned brands. These new models—Dynafit's Winter Guide GTX, Scott's Superguide Carbon, and Orbit II Carbon—are set to redefine comfort and performance in the ski boot market.
Gore’s GORE-TEX® SURROUND technology has already made waves in the footwear industry, particularly in outdoor and business casual shoes. This year, the brand is taking its breakthrough further by applying this advanced fabric technology to ski boots. Designed for mountain guides, professional skiers, and adventure enthusiasts, these boots offer superior breathability and moisture management, ensuring feet stay dry and warm even during long days on the slopes.
Skiing for extended periods can be tough on your feet. Many skiers have experienced the discomfort of wet, cold feet after a long session on the mountain. This is often due to sweat trapped inside traditional ski boots, which are typically made from non-breathable materials. The foot contains one of the highest concentrations of sweat glands, especially in the soles, making it crucial to manage moisture effectively.
Traditional ski boots, filled with air-tight foam, do little to allow sweat to escape. As a result, the feet can become damp and uncomfortable, leading to blisters and reduced performance. Gore has addressed this issue by combining thermo-moldable foam with GORE-TEX® film—an ultra-light, thin, and durable material that is both waterproof and breathable. This innovative design allows moisture to evaporate through the film, keeping the interior of the boot dry and comfortable throughout the day, no matter the weather conditions.
The Dynafit Winter Guide GTX and Scott’s Superguide Carbon and Orbit II Carbon will make their official debut at the OR Winter Show on January 21. These boots represent a major leap forward in ski boot technology, offering unmatched breathability and comfort.
