According to a report from the OIA Association on January 16, Gore, the global leader in waterproof and breathable fabric technology, will unveil its latest innovation at the upcoming 2015 Winter Salt Lake City Outdoor Exhibition (OR Winter). This time, the brand is introducing three GORE-TEX® thermo-moldable fabric ski boots for the first time. These models—Dynafit’s Winter Guide GTX, Scott’s Superguide Carbon, and Orbit II Carbon—are set to revolutionize the market with their superior breathability and comfort.
Gore has previously applied its GORE-TEX® SURROUND technology to outdoor shoes and premium casual footwear, but this year marks a significant step forward as they introduce the same groundbreaking fabric technology into the world of ski boots. Designed for mountain guides, professional skiers, and adventure enthusiasts, these boots are engineered to keep feet dry and warm in all conditions.
For skiers who spend long hours on the slopes, wet and cold feet are a common problem. After a day of intense activity, sweat can accumulate inside traditional ski boots, leading to discomfort and reduced performance. The feet contain the highest concentration of sweat glands in the body, especially on the soles, making proper ventilation essential. Traditional ski boots made from non-breathable foam often trap moisture, causing discomfort and even blisters.
To address this issue, Gore has developed a new solution by combining traditional thermo-moldable foam with a lightweight, thin, and durable GORE-TEX® film. This innovative material is waterproof, windproof, and highly breathable. As a result, foot sweat evaporates through the GORE-TEX® membrane instead of being trapped inside the boot. This not only keeps the feet cool during exertion but also ensures all-day comfort, regardless of weather conditions. It also helps reduce the risk of blisters and improves overall skiing performance.
The Dynafit Winter Guide GTX and the Scott Superguide Carbon and Orbit II Carbon are the first ski boots to feature this advanced technology. They will be officially launched at the OR Winter Show on January 21.
