Innovative Green Logistics Packaging Significantly Reduces Express Garbage

[China Packaging Network News] The rapid development of e-commerce has led to an increase in courier parcels, and packaging that cannot be recycled often results in "express waste." Wang Jixiang, vice president of the China Storage Association, said at the 2nd China (International) Green Storage and Distribution Conference recently held that if it is possible to innovate green logistics packaging, it is expected to reduce the amount of e-commerce parcels by over 1.4 billion pieces in a year.

Wang Jixiang said that in order to avoid damage caused by rough handling, small pieces of goods are usually packaged in layers, and tapes, plastic bags, paper boxes, cartons, foam fillers, etc. cannot be recycled, and even some of the packaging materials have certain toxicity. Bringing serious waste and environmental pollution.
According to statistics, e-commerce logistics package exceeded 14 billion in 2014. Experts estimate that 14 billion packages will produce 2.8 million tons of packaging waste, which can be filled with nearly 200,000 football fields. The annual use of packaging tape can circle more than 300 circles around the world.
“Green packaging is to save resources and reduce pollution in the packaging sector to the maximum extent. How to realize the green packaging of the e-commerce logistics system has become one of the biggest social issues facing China's green environmental protection field. It must be solved through technological innovation and management innovation.” Wang Jixiang said.
At present, the China Storage Association is in the process of soliciting e-commerce logistics green packaging innovation projects from related companies, and will promote it in due course.
The first Green Storage and Distribution Conference was held in April 2014 and put forward the “China Green Warehousing and Distribution Action Plan” to promote the greenization of the business logistics field.
