The Red Bull Fancy Challenge, the world's premier event co-organized by the International Extreme Canoe Federation and Red Bull, is set to return to Nujiang, Yunnan Province, from March 19th to 22nd. This year’s edition marks a significant step forward, expanding from a national competition to an international stage, drawing top athletes from around the globe. This year’s competition features two thrilling events: the Giant Wave Pursuit and the Water Cave Fancy Competition. Athletes from the U.S., Canada, Sweden, the Netherlands, and China will compete, including world-renowned names like American star Dion Jackson and Min Nanqin, China’s first women’s kayak world champion. On the final day, March 22nd, competitors will take on the Tiger Jumping Beach — a challenging section of the Nujiang River that has never been part of a previous competition.
The event is held in the Nujiang Grand Canyon, a breathtaking area in western Yunnan where the Sanjiang River flows through dramatic landscapes. Known as a "white water paradise," this region is a dream destination for kayakers worldwide. The competition is designed to showcase different sections of the upper Nu River, each offering unique challenges. The Giant Wave Chase will take place on March 19th and 20th at Huyingtan, while the Water Cave Fancy Competition moves to Zenlang on the 21st. Finally, the Tiger Jumping Beach challenge will close the event on the 22nd.
