[Crowd] Why can OLED technology attract everyone's attention?

Most users may be impressed with the thick and heavy TVs that were used at home more than a decade ago; at that time, computers became popular and equipped with a "brain" display. Now these "bulky" displays have faded out of sight, and televisions and computers are getting slimmer. Even in the market for nearly two years, a more ground-breaking curved TV set has begun to attract our attention.

The development of displays is based on the replacement of display technology. At the beginning, cathode ray tube (CRT) imaging technology allowed us to see the original "square box" TV, and then liquid crystal display (LCD) technology to let everyone into the era of flat panel display, now known as the next generation of fantasy display organic Light-emitting diode (OLED) display technology is entering a practical stage, making curved displays possible. What kind of technology is OLED? Why does it attract everyone's attention?

An OLED is an organic material-based electroluminescent device whose basic structure resembles a sandwich and consists of two electrodes and a plurality of layers of organic material sandwiched therebetween. According to the function, the organic layer can be classified into an electron transport layer, a hole transport layer, a light-emitting layer and the like. Applying a certain voltage across the device produces a magical effect—invisible electricity is converted into visible light through the OLED. Scientists have changed the color of OLED light by designing the structure of organic materials. The three colors of red, green and blue are used as the three primary colors, and all colors can be mixed. The reason why we can see the picture through the display is formed by the arrangement of three colors of red, green and blue. Arranging countless OLED basic units together forms the colorful OLED display we see.

Since OLED is an all-solid-state light-emitting device, it is considered to be most suitable for flexible display. The OLED flexible display has many advantages such as being thin, flexible, foldable, portable, and impact resistant, and will bring about major changes in the form of the display, and will be widely used in various fields such as consumer electronics, home, and wearable devices in the future. While enhancing human visual enjoyment, OLED is also an important forward-looking technology for creating a beautiful new life for mankind. From tens of centimeters thick CRT displays to OLED displays that are only a few tens of microns thick (thinner than the hairline diameter), the display thickness has been reduced by tens of thousands of times in less than 30 years. We have no reason not to think about it. In the future, whether it is the clothes worn on the body or the curtains hanging indoors - everything we see can be the carrier of the display, and the future will be a world that shows everywhere.

In addition to being used in the manufacture of displays, OLEDs have an important application - lighting. Compared with traditional lighting methods, OLED lighting has more advantages, such as no ultraviolet, no infrared radiation, soft light, no glare, no stroboscopic, rich spectrum, high color rendering quality. These features make OLED lighting a place where there is a high demand for light sources, such as eye protection, museum lighting, medical lighting and more. And it will gradually enter thousands of households, so that the public can enjoy better lighting.
