Industrial design issues to be solved

In the past quite a period of time, culture and arts were separated from science and technology, and many technological achievements could not be translated and it was difficult to realize their intrinsic value. The process of industrial design is actually giving a representation of technology and culture, tapping the intrinsic achievements of technology, commercializing it, and realizing their value. Designers must understand both art and technology to play the role of intermediary and bridge. If a design only pays attention to the external form and neglects the development of science and technology, such a design has no vitality. Industrial design must be integrated with new technologies and new materials, and beaten with the pulse of the times.

Problems to be solved

1. The company's understanding of design value is not clear enough. On the whole, Chinese companies' understanding of design is still not sober, and a large number of OEMs (OEMs) have caused companies to continuously lose their design capabilities. In the introduction of foreign investment, a large number of OEM production has caused China's total export of products to increase substantially, and GDP has grown rapidly, but at the same time it has also made Chinese companies rely on foreign countries in product design. In some products, core design is still purchased from abroad, even in China's independent intellectual property rights. This is common in high-tech industries such as automobiles, machinery, and computers. Although more and more companies have established their own design departments, there are still many large companies that lack dedicated investment in design and lack their own designers. This is also the reason why China's manufacturing industry has not gone beyond the cycle of introduction, imitation, production, reintroduction, and re-imitation. To further develop the industrial design industry, we must, like Seoul, advocate that “design is the air” and allow companies to consciously apply the design to their product research and development, so that our companies value design innovation as much as technological innovation.

2. There is not enough awareness in the academic community to serve the industry. No matter if it is design or creativity, it will be meaningless if it is separated from the actual product. The industrial design community often bows to design and ignores actual product and market demands, which makes our design products have no commercial value and cannot effectively promote the development of the design industry and manufacturing industry. Industry should be used as the starting point and end-result of research. Design is a very strong practical discipline. We must pay attention to cultivating students' creative abilities and let students truly serve the practice. Instead of blindly training doctors and postdoctoral students, there is still a big gap in cultivating students' creative abilities.

3. The degree of internationalization of the design industry is still low. To achieve further development of the design industry, it is urgent to strengthen foreign exchanges. At present, no matter the enterprise or academia lacks the awareness of exchanging advanced design experience with foreign countries, foreign advanced design experience can enable us to avoid detours, save costs and accelerate development. At the same time, increasing international exchanges also means an international perspective. Our companies, universities, and design companies have not enough ideas for innovation. They must also learn a scientific approach and increase international exchange is a shortcut.

4, lack of industrial design talent. Although Beijing's industrial design field has an advantage in talent supply nationwide, there are structural contradictions from the perspective of supply and demand. On the one hand, the Beijing design talent market still lacks content creation, design services, and design operations. Many types of management talents, on the other hand, are difficult to design professional students to allocate, and many people diverted to other work, which reflects the contradiction between talent supply and demand. Judging from the industrial design professional companies, although there are a large number of existing design companies in Beijing, they generally have a small overall scale and are basically in a state of disorganized management. The design products are basically at the low end, and there are no design companies and designers with world influence.
